A brief pitch for paid subscriptions. Your paid subscription supports my work on behalf of you, the Substack community, which I hope will be full-time. It provides extra benefits. If it gets you more subscriptions – and introduces you to more newsletters related to your interests – isn't a paid subscription to Sub Pub a good idea? 🤔☺️
And now, today's discussion thread!
Substack has hosted two shoutout threads, on June 3 and July 1. Commenters were invited to introduce their newsletters and recommend another newsletter.
The community shared 611 newsletters in the June thread. I don't think Substack has counted the total for the July thread. (I presume you could still add a shoutout and be part of the July count.)
Let's try some shoutouts here. 📣 Please introduce yourself and your newsletter, as well as another newsletter you recommend. 📣
As an experienced traveler myself, I interview other experienced travelers and summarize their stories and advice every other week. With travel returning to normal, I hope my newsletter will offer some inspiration to those excited to get back out there.
As a new dad, Emily Oster's ParentData newsletter is one I highly recommend!
As for boosting others - I really like what you've been doing here at Sub Pub in trying to build a community around writers; I also really like a writer I found via a thread here, ages ago, http://thechalkboard.life.
Writing a weekly newspaper column taught me the best way to make my points is through humor. I call it Relevant Humor - the effect of the Cold War on Trumpism; the bottom line in the obsession with the royals; and, upcoming this week, viewing the justice system through the lens of early TV. Judges wear muzzles, as I did for 17 years before retiring, and I'm enjoying my freedom of expression once again.

I find S.G. Prince's letter Napkin Scratch interesting and well written.
