Support a Substack about Substack
(essentially a Substack about you, the creators and readers too!)
I want to write the best post ever, to persuade you to get a paid subscription.
But I can’t.
Because I believe YOU write the best posts.1
Your uniqueness and effort make your posts important.
I want you to get rewards for your work – more satisfaction, more readers, more subscribers.
As a Substack about Substack, Sub Pub is about you.
Some posts are literally about you – interviews and guest posts.
On Substack and Twitter, I compile lists of newsletters and creators, so that more readers can see your work.2
You are the stars of discussions. I’m the facilitator.
In posts, discussions, and even tweets, I seek to support your newsletter, make it more discoverable, learn what Substack is doing, and reflect your hopes and concerns about Substack.
I’ve interacted with you, and with people at Substack Inc. In 2022, I intend to focus on relaying your issues – advocating for you – to Substack.
Whatever you’d benefit from, I’d be happy to look into, write about, and help with.3
Without you, this newsletter would lose its purpose.
To benefit you and other creators, I hope an $8 per month subscription is worth the price. If $8 is too much, I can provide a discount.
You can subscribe for a month and see how you feel.
To help me help more, you can enter any amount as a “Founding Member.”4
The more paid subscribers, the more I can afford to work for the benefit of Substack creators and readers.
I have a goal of a couple of dozen paid subscribers by the end of 2021. Can you help me to meet this goal?
If you like this post, could you share it?
Thanks!
If you are a reader and not a creator, you are a better judge of the best posts for you than I could ever be. Plus, you may write comments that are as much a part of Substack as the posts.
If Substack is better for creators, it should be better for readers too. As a reader, I hope you will also benefit from a paid subscription to Sub Pub.
Or at least you’ll know that one more reader has seen your work – me. 😃
Of course, the lists don’t include private Substacks (which have enabled invite-only mode). I respect privacy.
For example, several people have indicated curiosity about how well newsletters and posts show up on Google. It will take some time for me to explore that properly – given the variety of newsletters, posts, and searches – but I plan to do it.
If 1,000 newsletter creators contact me with different issues, I couldn’t look into and help resolve all these issues individually. However, if one creator has a concern – say, with Substack's text editor, Substack support, or promoting their newsletter – often others have this concern. I can help several people at the same time.
