It's so easy for people to say "lighten up!," "don't worry be happy,!" etc at the wrong time – like when someone is focusing on serious writing. So I always want to put in a caveat like "there's a time and place" for seriousness, as well as for comedy.
Hey, hey, hey! Scott Frey! You are communicating excellence! I chime in right with you. BING go! I have a sense of humor somewhere around here, but with my arthritis perking up it hurts. And you fill up my senses like night in the forest... ouch! Laughter is good. Funny is good. So why so serious I tell myself? Because I'm not as funny as you, but I'll try. Like my mom often said, "I'm laughing so hard right now, means I'm gonna cry later." So much not funny. Darn, it's hard to be funny when all around everything crashing down. Well, I'll try funny. Thank you. I really enjoy your posts. Thank you. Who's gonna tell me, who said that... make em laugh? Mel Brooks?
Hey, if I looked like Sally, I'd be Sally, but I look 64 and feel 102 so me doing what Sally did might end me up... well, I don't think people would like see me do that at all. Not that I don't remember...lol
Until things hit the slight hitch of going into a strict lockdown, I was being bold in my campaign to get the name of a mountain changed back to its original name (it's current name is just based on people mispronouncing and shortening the original name). It's not the sort of thing I'd normally do but I decided that it mattered.
I laughed a little but I'm super-serious today. Two posts about the seriousness of opinion writing. But in my opinion you're on the right track here.
Make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh! (Ten points if you know who sang it and where it's from. No cheating!)
Ooh, ooh, I know that one! Barbra Streisand, Funny Girl? (I never saw the movie. But I think I saw a clip of her singing that.)
Oh no! I was totally wrong! 😭😉

Or was it Danny Kaye?
Not Mel Brooks or Danny Kaye. But I'd say your guesses are closer than mine.
I laughed out loud at "BING go!" 😀

I needed this!!
